These are the colors that speak to me when I decorate Duckhead cottage. The house came with furniture so already had a theme of purple and green which, of course, we fell in love with. We added the turquoise chairs and the red and yellow accents in the kitchen. The big things stayed like the brown leather couch and the brown table and benches. When my sister-in-law posted this photograph of an instagram picture she had taken it took my breath away. It spoke to me. I knew that it contained all the colors that I wanted to use as my inspiration for Duckhead. My theme.
One of the blogs I followed, Young House Love (they are on hiatus right now and I do so hope they come back!), decorated their entire second house using a napkin as their inspiration. Not that I needed the inspiration. The colors were already there in my head. But this picture made it all make sense. Made me stop doubting whether it all went and made me realize that I was so drawn to these colors because they are found in nature.
Of course I love the nest with three eggs. My three babies. I love the thought of decorating and feathering our nests to make them cozy and comfortable for not only ourselves but our loved ones, our kids, our friends and our pets. I love the changing leaves and the shifts in the color green from light to dark to purple. I love the shades of purples, the reds, the vibrancy of nature. This picture wows me. It speaks to me. It touches me. It is perhaps my favorite picture of all time. Every time I look at it I find something else I love. So thank you KT. Now to frame it and find the perfect spot for it at the lake so I can admire it every day that I am there.
