Outdoor Cooking at the Lake

This year we did almost all of our cooking at the lake outdoors.  Especially if we had friends over.   Covid 19 brought a whole new way of life for many and we still wanted to get away to our lake house and share our special spot with friends.  We created a bunk house out of our garage (more on that later) and a cooking space where we could entertain friends and cook safely outdoors.  The added bonus was we got to enjoy the view of the lake while cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner!  We found the key to cooking this year was the blackstone griddle.   I am constantly sharing it with friends, family, renters and other bloggers or VRBO hosts.   Such a great add on for families that like to entertain, for vacation homes, and a gift for people who love to cook and be outside.

Breakfast usually starts with bacon or sausages, blueberry, chocolate chip and plain pancakes, sometimes biscuits and gravy and often eggs of any kind.  Grilled english muffins and bagels are also a big hit.  I created links below to all our outdoor cooking essentials.  There are two sizes of grills (we have the larger one at the lake where we entertain more) and remember to watch for sales.  Great birthday, Christmas or father's day/mother's day gift for the cook in your life!

For lunch we've been known to cook up made to order grilled cheese sandwiches, lots of hotdogs & smash burgers.

We cook anything we'd cook inside for dinner out on the griddle or on the grill and the attached burner.   Grilled pineapple to top our burgers, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob steamed in the pot, shish ka bobs on the grill, hibachi rice, steak, chicken, street corn.  Our other favorite is Friday night pizzas made on our grill with a grill top pizza oven. You name it we've probably cooked it outside and if we hadn't before we definitely tried it this year.

Even during these uncertain times it has allowed us to celebrate special occasions, get together with friends and family and share our special spot on the lake with friends who have been desperate for an escape.

We have the larger blackstone griddle at our lake house and use it for entertaining multiple families all the time. We cook breakfast 🍳πŸ₯“πŸ₯ž lunch πŸŒπŸžπŸ§€and dinner πŸ”πŸŸπŸ₯©πŸšπŸ€πŸ₯¦πŸŒ½on it and absolutely love it. Lots of family members and friends have purchased one after seeing ours in action!

Here are some outdoor kitchen essentials we've discovered with all the outdoor cooking we've done this year.  Looking forward to continuing to cook outside through the fall and winter and into next year!
