Who doesn't love to celebrate holidays. July 24th. National Tequila Day. Now that's a day to celebrate! We love all holidays but especially one that involves our favorite liquor. Besides beer. We both LOVE beer. And red wine. But only in winter. Rod will occasionally drink a gin and tonic in summer. I hate gin. But this girl loves tequila. I'll do a shot now and again but I especially love margaritas! With a salted rim. My friend Patti and I were going to invent a salt lick for our margarita glasses. Still think it's not a bad idea.
We spent this day relaxing. We wouldn't be here if our renter had not decided to leave early. So we had no plans, no to do lists, no agendas. Just to relax! We spent the majority of the day in floaties in the lake. Did a few errands to the grocery store and for plywood for the bunk bed that was literally bent out of shape. Wow! Who slept in that to bend a metal bed frame? The rest of the day was spent floating, reading, more floating. I did vacuum the house and make a few beds as we have guests coming tonight. Rod mowed the lawn. But other than that we relaxed. We even took our two labs out in the canoes. And they even stayed in the whole time.
For dinner we had salmon, asparagus and corn bread. And margaritas! There is nothing like a margarita to teach you to sit back and relax. Do nothing. Just enjoy the view and your family and your cottage.
We met the neighbors yesterday. They are from the town next to us in Massachusetts although they just moved to Vermont year round. They are on the same life plan as us. Bought a house the year before they had their first child. Had two children. A boy and a girl. Same ages as our oldest two kids. Black lab. Although theirs is afraid of water, squirrels and nature. So they are missing a yellow lab and a third child but funny how life leads some people in the same direction. They were excited to see some young people on the lake. There are a lot of retirees which is great but it's nice to have some folks our own age as well. We had an hour long conversation that started with him on a float and us on our balcony. Then continued with beers on the dock and him still in his float. Lake life. I could get used to this!
Cheers!
