That being said it was still hard to leave today. We got each of the rooms just how we wanted them to look. Organized the kitchen just so. Picked up a few odds and ends to fill out what was missing in the kitchen and around the house. And even finished the majority of what has to be one of the hardest puzzles I've ever done. We had to start from scratch three times. Once because little cousins had arrived, the second time because a friend's hot chocolate spilled all over it. So we just couldn't take it apart again without finishing it. We hope it feels homey to see a puzzle just begging to be finished in the living room. We are hoping our renter feels inspired to finish it. And if they don't, at least it wasn't us that had to put it back in that box incomplete.
We actually finished more than this but were so busy trying to place pieces before we left that we didn't take another picture. |
We had fun putting together welcome gifts for our guests. Our friend that is also renting her cottage suggested it. One of her neighbors suggested it to her. She said it helps welcome people to your home and gives it a personal feel. You're not just renting a room in a hotel, you're sharing your home with them. It also helps people feel more inclined to replace a lightbulb when one burns out rather than calling someone to come fix it for them. We hope our guests feel at home when they come to stay at DuckHead.
The first part of the gift was a bottle of RELAX wine. The blue bottle is fun and we love the message. Exactly what we want people to do when they come to stay at our cottage.
I thought this picture of a moose spotted on the lake was so cool and showed the girls. Later found out that the picture was taken right next door to our cottage in our neighbors yard. Wow! |
With the signs to watch for Moose peppering the drive up and the recent siting of this moose in our neighbor yard we also included some Moose Munch Crunch for the guests who also have kids staying with them at the lake.
Finally we included a personal note welcoming them to the house and the lake. We are sad to be leaving our house for the next 7 weeks but are happy that there are families coming that will create everlasting memories in our little cottage by the lake.
We created our summer bucket list (typed into phone by my 13 year old while I drove and we all brainstormed) on the car ride home. It will be fun to fill our summer with fun activities while we wait to head back to the lake. I miss it already....
